Addiction Interventions | What Happens to the Kids?

The hardest part when you're talking to a family about an alcoholic is when they have children When I hear children are involved, I'm almost not even doing it for the alcoholic

I'm doing it for their kids because I know what those kids are going through If you don't wanna help the alcoholic, then don't, but at least get the kids outta that environment The longer those kids are in that environment, the more guilt they have, the more shame they'll get, the more voids they'll have in their life You're just setting up an environment for potentially them being alcoholics themselves later At bare minimum, they're gonna end up in intensive therapy growing up in this environment

And as a professional, I'm still a human, and when kids are involved, I just can't see how families wait even a day to do anything when there's children involved, especially young ones You know, they're being verbally abused, sometimes physically abused Dad's never there You know, families, if nothing else, should be doing it for the children
