Former NBA athlete speaks out on drug addiction

Today, these High School Students are treated to a guest speaker – who is talking to them about drugs Some of these kids will blow off his message – but this guest speaker hopes his story can save a young life

"We all start off with the notion that it won't be us and I was that kid" High schoolers navigate a maze of potential problems Drug use is one of them "definitely, yeah I mean, everyone says that it happens everywhere and for sure it happens Drugs Alcohol and that sort of thing

" Chris was no ordinary junkie He had accomplished the dream Herren was a high school phenom, college star and NBA basketball player After he was cut by the Nuggets – – Herren – – who was raised just outside of Boston – – accomplished his dream of playing for his favorite team Only to have that dream stripped away by addiction

"I was able to accomplish that and I lost that – – I lost that cause of pain killers – -because of oxycoton – -which led me to heroin" After years of addiction, the man who saw his dreams taken – – his family tortured – – and his body – – finally sobered up My highest moments are my recovery – – any day I can get through sober is a huge victory" Chris is an athlete who measures victory in gymnasiums differently than the past His job used to be to win NBA games and now it's to win over kids with his sobering message
